Quality Design

Civil Engineering

Quality, efficient, timely, and cost-effective civil engineering design is at the core of everything we do. Our in-house design team includes more than a dozen licensed Professional Engineers, numerous Engineers-in-Training, many with field construction experience, and a very experienced group of CAD Designers and Drafters. Our team utilizes the most current software, including Civil 3D, the latest local storm drainage programs, and specialized construction inspection programs, to supplement our broad range of experience and excel at civil engineering services on all types of projects.

Civil Engineering Services

  • Blueline’s design services include comprehensive layout, calculations, and value engineering for storm drainage detention and water quality treatment facilities for a wide variety of development and public works projects. Our services also include evaluation and design of
Low Impact Development (LID) techniques, sizing of stormwater conveyance systems, and evaluation and retrofitting of existing stormwater facilities.

  • Roadway design is a vital piece of nearly all of Blueline’s projects. From the civil design of roadway extensions, improvements, or reconstruction on public works projects to the layout of new streets through private residential developments, the roadway alignments and streetscapes we design have lasting impacts on communities. The geometry, grading, and pedestrian enhancements can have significant impacts ranging from short-term constructability and construction costs to long-term effects on connectivity, business development, and growth.

  • Our grading efforts utilize the power of Civil 3D to meet site-specific design constraints that align with the client’s vision for the project while meeting jurisdictional requirements. We prepare extensive earthwork analyses and quantity calculations that allow our projects to maximize efficiency in earth moving activities while minimizing construction costs.

  • New sidewalks and building access need to be inclusive to and usable by individuals with disabilities, and existing pedestrian ways often need to be brought into compliance with the American Disabilities Act (ADA). Blueline’s detailed designs on both public and private projects improve ADA compliance for existing and new intersections and ensure new developments meet all the up-to-date standards.

  • Our Public Works team’s greatest strength has been the volume of successfully completed water and sewer main extension/replacement design work for numerous local agencies. These designs have increased capacity for new development, providing additional fire flow for water systems, and upgrading aging infrastructure to prevent long term maintenance issues.

  • Blueline’s design efforts focus on meeting the increasingly growing and consistently evolving LID design requirements of local and federal jurisdictions. Blueline’s staff stays current on local practices and approved LID options to provide the right design solution on a site-specific basis.

  • Clients receive proactive and adaptable construction services tailored to meet the needs and budgets of each project. Services include full-time, part-time, and on-call field inspections as well as construction administration.

  • Each Jurisdiction has a unique permitting process and staff conducting plan review. Blueline’s project teams have experience working with many Washington municipalities and special purpose districts and are familiar with their standards and permitting processes, which can help to reduce project re-submittals and overall project timelines.
