Heartwood

Located in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle, Heartwood is an affordable housing project made up of 8 stories, consisting of 126 units. This project showcases the State's tallest cross-laminated timber structure to date and will be developed using a mass timber product made from carbon-sequestering renewable wood.

Blueline provided landscape architecture design services on this project including a unique frontage of retail space and "stoops" for the ground level units with raised planters creating a dynamic streetscape. The project creates a central courtyard space between the existing historic Helen V. property and the new mass timber project filled with shared amenities like a barbecue area and fire pit with seating, varied bench seating, bioretention planters, green walls, and various unique art elements.
