Des Moines Parks

The Blueline landscape architecture and civil teams have been providing the City of Des Moines with landscape architecture, civil engineering, and surveying services for multiple park/playground renovation projects. Cecil Powell Park is a small site located within an existing neighborhood that contained a previous playground that was removed for safety concerns. The park is receiving a new play structure, edging, safety surfacing, a paved accessible walkway with associated furnishings. Field House Park is a centrally located and very active park facility. The play equipment is well-used and is being replaced with new and upgraded activities. The existing play equipment at Kiddie Park was vandalized and heavily damaged. Because of the sloping site, the new playground has been relocated up the hill and closer to the road with a protective fence, and accessible, paved walkway. Located in an existing single-family neighborhood, Westwood Park required new play equipment, edging, safety surfacing, and accessible walkway. Wooton Park is a community facility located in the very active Redondo Beach neighborhood. Improvements included new play equipment, an accessible paved walkway system, replacement of an existing gazebo structure, addition of two bocce ball courts, and upgrades to the street frontage with new parking stalls and associated concrete sidewalk.
