Arlington Housing Action Plan

Following a successful E2SHB grant application prepared by Blueline, the City of Arlington hired us to develop the City’s first Housing Action Plan. The HAP includes a housing needs assessment which focuses on exploring the particular needs of the City’s residents and how the City’s current housing stock is meeting those demands. The needs assessment also evaluates what strategies the City has already implemented to increase its residential building capacity and how effective they have been. The HAP utilizes the lessons from the needs assessment as well as numerous public outreach efforts to develop an Arlington-specific approach of recommendations for encouraging residential growth that is inclusive of all demographic sectors within the City. The recommendations include removal of regulatory barriers, better resource allocation, and local policy and programmatic changes.

“Your first deliverable, the Housing Needs Assessment (HNA), looks really good! The Blueline group did a great job. The specific breakdown of units needed at each income level bracket over the next 15 years is exactly what we were hoping to see in the HNA, as well as the unique findings about housing needs within Arlington.”
